The Long Night

When the snows fall, and the white winds blow,

The black crows feast on the frozen sow,

They pierce its rotten skin and flap their wings in wrath,

For there is no more game nor a single blood bath.

The pale stag wipes its muzzle for a snippet of grass,

For there is no more fertile land, only frozen weed.

Herbs that have been petrified in time and consumed by cold,

Cold that has made the nights longer and the days darker.

Nights full of terrors and bursting chill.

And days in which no sun smiles nor beading light,

Only biting cold and swallowing mirk.

Thus, behind the woods wolves with their sharp fangs lurked,

In the gloomy twilight wandering for flesh.

And enticed by weakened deer in agony,

They seize their dinner in fury.

Small creatures are born and die in the long night,

Ignoring the growing fear outside their caves and fright.

Shall they one day see the sun and know the word of bright,

For there is nothing better than vivid life and dazzling light.

My Nation!

Morocco is a free nation.

Indeed, it deserves its citizen’s humiliation,

It’s natives’ prostration,

It’s children’s salvation and self-renunciation.

For Morocco, we must fight,

for corruption has become its light,

and justice has become its delight,

No wonder that our state has become none.

And our vanity is done.

Corruption has climbed into our heads.

And we have bowed as slaves while usurpers have arisen as Gods.

We have permitted our country’s inclination and our brotherhoods’ invocation.

Yet, we should not surrender to them, or to any traitor of our nation.

My nation, rise to the top! Rise as others would not step aside!

In the same way you are bowed to your God, let this bowing earth be us, as one hand does not clap.

You are not alone, adjoin your power to ours, and you will be invincible, as God never loses His Righters’ deeds.

From Lovers to Strangers

The sparkle has gone darker

And the nights became colder

The two lovers turned from lovers

To strangers

Their love was like the sun

So warm and bright

That you could feel their happiness

From miles away

But the cold moon had hidden

The bright shining sun

Creating an endless eclipse

Of two gone lovers

The sparkle has completely disappeared

As if it was never sparkling

The grief has come to an end

But memories will forever stay

Meaning

The poem shows how the love of two ex-lovers vanished as if they were strangers. Their love was so strong and obvious that it was compared to the sun. However, at the end their love and grief for each other’s loss ended and the only thing that was still linking them are the memories they had when they were together.

Paradise

From dusk till dawn I am dreaming of a life with no worries

laying down in a forest plucking fresh cherries.

Where the pleasant breeze waves my hair

Where all I should do is sit and stare.

The sunlight says hi through the tree leaves,

As gentle as a mom’s tenderness

warming up my cheeks to endlessness.

All pain and concerns decide to leave.

No evil does bad and no hater gossips,

No cruel harms and no liar profits.

Blessed lands with no place for boredom,

Where flowers never cease to blossom.

Crystal clear water in the river flowing,

Tastes divine and feels like paradise,

Makes a soothing sound and gets me forgoing

To its beauty and leaves me mesmerized.

Oh I wish I could be there and breath the air,

Oh I wish I could find this place and swear

That I’ll never go anywhere

And stay without warfare.

A Broken Heart

How could you break my heart before we start dating?

You stopped me in my thoughts, and I know that our hearts are beating in harmony

because destiny has set our rhythm

Oh, love, love, love

My heart is hurting so badly right now.

My tears are flowing down like heavy rain.

We’re no longer soulmates

Where are our dreams and promises now?

I am aware that I never expressed my emotions.

Just trust me when I say that I would melt every time I saw you.

You made me so blind, it’s unimaginable…

You convinced me that you were the perfect one I could ask for,

You proved to be the worst.

I’ve been thinking about you,

And I just want everything to be different.

Yet, words endure forever.

Still causing a lot of suffering.

You really hurt me, and it hurts a lot.

From all the plans you were unable to keep.

From all the lies you told me

They are all still there in my thoughts

and refuse to go away.

Don’t you see how hurt I am inside?

Words unexpressed, left unrevealed

And you just realized how it ends.

I can’t take any more heartache.

There is no more pain in my heart to feel.

You hurt me and broke my heart into pieces.

Please, just leave me

Mon front s’embrase d’ardeur,

Et mes yeux rougissent de fureur.

Un immense souffle draconique s’échappa de mes oreilles,

Puis mon nez semblait une ruche d’abeilles.

Tout un bourdonnement me jacasse,

Dont on ne se débarrasse.

———————————————————-

Thor’s hammers pounded my head,
And the thunders of pain stroke my forehead.
The storm raged with no retreat,
And my thoughts on the ships of muse sank to the bottom.
Can I meditate or reflect?
Of course not, as long as my mind keeps slipping.
My fantasies lie in ruin,
Where everything is indulged in peril.
Muffled refrains of warriors reverberated,
Next to a nervous flurry winding the ford.
A bushy smoke rises in my brain,
Above an army of hangmen.
My forehead is ablaze with ardour,
And my eyes redden with fury.
A huge dragon breath escaped my ears,
Then my nose seemed like a hive of bees.
A whole buzzing chatters inside me,
Which I could not ward off.

Surrender

My love letters long for an answer

Like a virgin waiting for a deceased soldier

Seductive under the festive bullets of a killer

Sedate in the presence of the demise coming closer

Embrace me one last time before departure

Kiss my lips and hold me tighter

Do not let go of our poisonous worship, our predominant master

Do not withdraw from our smothering smolder

Love stories happen to be vulgar

Ours is limpid like a love prayer

Like a heart crying a river

Like our dreamed-up roof painted in temper

How can I be touched by another stranger?

When my corpse is lifeless as you run farther

All I am is a perished creature

The return of my soldier is all that I hanker

All these prayers are not gifted an answer

All this patience is not awarded with a closure

Perhaps it is time to kiss goodbye the summer

When our eyes played a melody of ardor

I set you free now and I surrender

Blood On Your Hands

You’d save a life they say

only wearing a piece of cloth everyday

I can’t breathe, I’m suffocating

The answer of a reaper debating

I can’t breathe is not for you to say

two words born of man’s desperation while fading away

a movement for the rights of your fellow man

like a wounded torn down creature begging for its release

They say we’re celebrating Eid,thanksgiving, and Christmas

it’s a rebellion, we’re fighting the system

we’re still young, fit as a fiddle

The sheer callousness scarcely a riddle

Thoughtfulness and human decency

A thing we’ve not seen recently

Governments shouting the economy’s first

what’s a human life if not a commodity?

We buy, we bargain, we sell

To any resemblance of decency, we bid farewell

As we claw our way to say me, me, me

Pray tell who else are we supposed to see

Blood on their hands never washed away

the ruins in their wake mere child’s play

Anguish and suffering simply untold

A dark tapestry never to unfold
