Blood On Your Hands

You’d save a life they say

only wearing a piece of cloth everyday

I can’t breathe, I’m suffocating

The answer of a reaper debating

I can’t breathe is not for you to say

two words born of man’s desperation while fading away

a movement for the rights of your fellow man

like a wounded torn down creature begging for its release

They say we’re celebrating Eid,thanksgiving, and Christmas

it’s a rebellion, we’re fighting the system

we’re still young, fit as a fiddle

The sheer callousness scarcely a riddle

Thoughtfulness and human decency

A thing we’ve not seen recently

Governments shouting the economy’s first

what’s a human life if not a commodity?

We buy, we bargain, we sell

To any resemblance of decency, we bid farewell

As we claw our way to say me, me, me

Pray tell who else are we supposed to see

Blood on their hands never washed away

the ruins in their wake mere child’s play

Anguish and suffering simply untold

A dark tapestry never to unfold
