I Complain to My Lord –

By Islam Ali

Allah is the creator of my tears and my happiness. He is my creator and to the Great I shall return
In my prostration, I complain to my Lord about my plight * I hope for salvation after doing good deeds
And don’t complain to people as there is only three types of them. I will mention each type in one of the next lines
The first is the kind, and the kind loves us. But he will be grieved by our calamities

The second of them is not my friend * There is no benefit in complaining to him and I do not see him care
And the third is busy with his grudges * So beware, my brother, of the gloating of the villainous
You do not benefit from the complaint except that * you get yourself between gossip and gossip
So hold back your tears if calamity befalls you, or the bitterness of nomadism makes you tired
Do not complain to the son of Adam of distress * the free man repels the humiliation of chains
And the slaves are slaves, it is very unlikely that they will benefit you * Their forearms are incapable of carrying loads
That’s if they are wise. Otherwise, beware to listen to the advice of the ignorant
