The Smell of Books

Hello, autumn season of a colorful world with full of meaningful words. Welcome my favorite season welcome to the world. You came to make my world more colorful. Sometimes in the morning, when I look at you behind the window of my room, I feel better talking to you. You are my twin; you are my pain; you are the beginning of good days. Autumn! I would like to greet you every day. It is the first days of autumn; the season that makes everyone in love with it. The most beautiful and colorful season.

It is 5:21 pm. I am sitting in an amazing place, with a great and nice view and enjoying my writing. I am sitting among books in my university library. Whenever someone picks up a book to read, I can smell the books’ papers I hear the words, and I feel the story in it. The sweet, musky smell of books wafts into my nose and lingers. There is the smell of old papers, the smell of old and new books. The library is with three floors and many shelves full of books, each with its own words. The quietness of the library encourages me to walk through the bookshelves, take all the books and run away, and finish them all in a night. Every step I take between bookshelves is like walking through histories, stories, and many different interesting words that are waiting for someone to read and listen to them. I feel books have something to tell me each of those papers has something different to say. I can hear the words, I want to listen to them shshshsh… they are saying something, yeah, they are calling my name Bushraaa… I love this sound I do not want to do anything, just stay there inside books, and listen to them, listen to them with love…

The window that I am sitting close to shows the view of the mosque of the university. It is sunny and warm outside it is green with beautiful colorful flowers and high green trees. The weather outside is inspiring, but I quite liked the rainy days. When it is raining outside, I become more emotional to write something. When it is rainy, I feel like everything is clean and will wash the dirty air. Rainy days was rare, not in all Afghanistan but my hometown. Whenever it was raining, I used to go out and walk in the rain. I can remember a day I was at home, and it was raining heavily outside. I took my diary and went for a walk. I love walking in rain and listening to music. On rainy days I become more active and emotional. I run, do exercise, listen to music, listen to the rain sound, smell it, and write.

Outside of the library, there are many people students, professors, guards… Everyone and everything have their own story. It is enjoyable to see the birds flying, it shows the beauties of freedom. I can see how students are studying in the library and how they are excited about the new semester.

Good luck to all of us.
