A Letter to Myself

My dear self, you are not what you are going through,

My dear self, these dark thoughts do not define you.

I know it looks impossible to stay, and all of you want to disappear,

But hang in there for that broken woman who lives for you,

Hang in there for that strong man who sacrificed his life for you,

My dear self, I beg you to hang in there for one more day.

Sun may shine, the dark period will end, hope will appear,

And you will bloom like spring roses beautiful and fresh again.

My dear self, I need you to get up although it is challenging,

I want you to realize that this situation doesn’t define you.

My dear self, I feel your exhaustion, I feel that emptiness,

It kills you every day, doesn’t it? They took away your childhood,

They took away your smile, your motherland, your ego, your little pleasures,

My dear self, I want you to know you are not alone on this dark road.

I desperately ask you to stay, stay, one more day, one more night,

My dear self, the sun may shine, and the hope will show it to you; just wait.
