Poor Nutrition

Poor nutrition and improper eating habits can significantly increase a student’s stress levels. Foods heavy in refined carbs, sugar, caffeine, and fat have been linked to increased levels of stress in students. Many forms of fast, processed, and convenience foods fall into this category. French fries, white bread, processed snack meals, candy bars, donuts, energy drinks, and sodas are all stress-inducing foods.

Foods that are high in complex carbs and fiber and low in fat make up a healthy stress-relieving diet. Lean proteins, nuts, whole grains, veggies, and fruits are examples of such foods. It’s worth noting that excessive stress levels can cause physical ailments in pupils, which might have a bad impact on their academic performance. Chest pain, high blood pressure, stomach upset, slurred or quick speech, anxious habits like fidgeting, back and neck pains, tremors and trembling lips, and regular headaches are some of the indications and symptoms. When a student experiences these symptoms, he or she may lose motivation to do their best in academic responsibilities such as completing assignments or studying for exams. Furthermore, the symptoms are harmful to students’ health, a feature that may cause their academic fortunes to decline. Foods that are high in complex carbs and fiber and low in fat make up a healthy stress-relieving diet. Lean proteins, nuts, whole grains, veggies, and fruits are examples of such foods. This could further impair their ability to budget and manage their time effectively. Furthermore, stressed-out students have a proclivity to procrastinate and neglect important responsibilities such as meeting deadlines and completing assignments (Hales & Hales, 2016). Of course, this has a negative impact on the quality of their academic work and study skills. Students may develop self-defeating thoughts as a result of their high stress levels. When under stress, a student is likely to be preoccupied with the adversity or negative situation in which they find themselves. Furthermore, they may constantly focus on their flaws and failures while ignoring their strengths and accomplishments. These are self-defeating thoughts that not only lower their self-esteem but also influence how they behave and feel as humans and students. They lead to a student’s lack of confidence in their abilities, which has a negative impact on their academic success because they are unable to perform to their full potential. To reduce stress, students can use a variety of stress management strategies. One of these is to engage in regular physical activity and relax through techniques such as massage, tai chi, yoga, meditation, and deep breathing. Students can reduce stress by spending quality time with friends and family and maintaining a sense of humor. Another strategy is to make time for hobbies such as listening to music, playing football, or reading a book. It is also critical to get enough sleep and eat a well-balanced diet. These strategies have the potential to both relieve and prevent stress in students. Stress is the human body’s natural reaction to adversity. Various factors expose students to stress. When a student is subjected to chronic or high levels of stress, their ability to learn, memorize, and perform well in school can be hampered, regardless of their age or grade. Stress can also impair a student’s mental, emotional, and physical health. Teachers and parents can help students avoid chronic stress in their lives if they learn about and understand common stressors. Stress in students can have serious negative consequences and must be addressed. Sleeping habits are undeniably one of the causes of student stress; if we make a comparison When we compare students who get enough sleep to those who don’t, we find that the majority of students who don’t get enough sleep are more likely to have stress or anxiety. Students who get a well-organized sleep will undoubtedly refresh their brains and think clearly about ideas that will help them in their academic environment. Adequate sleep benefits a student’s brain, heart and immune system. It also strengthens the body to maintain a healthy pattern. Nevertheless, on the flip side of the coin, students who do not get enough sleep become increasingly aggressive and intangible. The National Sleep Foundation recommends that students, especially young ones, apply an 8.5-to-9-hour sleep plan. Another important source of student stress is academic pressure. Teachers give students homework to prepare for standardized tests, even if the student is only six years old. In addition to these homework assignments, there are classroom and semester reports that must be completed and submitted by tight deadlines. The combination of pressure from these assignments and students’ desire to do well in school creates stress. Students also experience pressure from close people such as family, friends, and even teachers. Therefore, they are too overwhelmed to rely on academic dishonesty, such as exam cheating, to meet these high expectations.

Stress may cause some solemn egregious effects to students academically, morally and physically. Students might undergo stressful paths because of bad habits sleeping and eating, along with family and pressure related to the academic system. They should have less anxiety and concern and that is through having enough sleep that will lessen pressure afterwards, since they need to refresh their brain in order that they would not feel overwhelmed or exhausted. Ultimately, stress for students is annihilating in their life career; and thus we, as a society, must help our children overcome these challenges simply by encouraging them and giving them rewards which is, as a matter of fact, one of the keys for building good habits and destroying bad ones.
