I am a beast now. I am a divine scenery

I am everything I should be, everything I shouldn’t be

I am the blood stains on your black tuxedo

The hostage that ran away

Dear change, dear revolution

You’re tempting but you’re scary

I am not scared anymore

I built my castle, I built my boundary

With every little ache in the middle of the night

Every painting in my pain gallery

My feminine hands have grown stronger

Enough to break the chains of slavery

To crush those gullible dreams

To abandon the habit of our anniversary

There is no “our” anymore, there is no “we”

Only the tired distance between you and me

Tasteless memories, not sweet, not savory

Your vainness gave me bravery

Your ignorance charged my battery

My logic was love, yours was burglary

I am grateful for the precious injury

For the humiliation of being secondary

The cruelty, the ugliness, the emotional beggary

The sadism, the mess, the happiness robbery

Now that I’m luminous and legendary

Now that I distinguish honesty from mockery

They say a man should give, a woman should receive

I say I am ready for the blessings from God’s sanctuary

I’ll bathe my heart in salt and rosemary

I’ll put a band-aid on my soul, burn my past’s library

I’ll drink from the cup of pride, the cup of glory

If now is not the time, when will be the time to break free?
