I met a cat; he was all alone

Living on the street, couldn’t make it on his own

He was thin and scrawny and oh so sad

I just had to help; he wasn’t bad

He roamed the streets, searching for friends

But all he found were cold hearts and empty hands

He was so lonely and went out of control

Until that day, he met a kind soul

He told me his story of how he’d been left behind

and fend for himself, so wild!

But now he was getting old, and he couldn’t do it alone

so he’d been looking for a human to take him home

I told him I was sorry, but I couldn’t take him in

I have already reached my limit with my other feline

But I said I’d help him, and I would be his friend

and I would make sure he got home safe and sound in the end

I took him in, and now he’s mine.

He eats and sleeps and is just fine.

He loves to play and chase his tail.

And he doesn’t make much of a wail.
